Sled the white gypsum dunes at White Sands National Park, then drive up into cool mountain air. Hike the Mexican Canyon Trestle Trail, wander the shops in Cloudcroft, or stop at a High Rolls orchard stand for apples and cider.
Fire up the BBQ grill while the cooks take over a fully stocked kitchen with a gas range, dishwasher and island seating. Then eat together at the long table on the covered deck as the mountains turn gold.
Mule deer wander through the yard daily, sometimes a whole herd at once, and elk make the occasional appearance too. The deer are usually most active in the early morning and around dusk, so keep your coffee and your camera handy on the deck.
